Terry Chen in Combat Hospital

While watching the pilot of Love Bites, a commercial for the series premiere of Combat Hospital was the first ad and I was slow to fast-forward on the PVR. Good thing, because now I’m going to record this series when it premieres June 21!

I guess one of the reasons why I never heard about this show, although it will air on an American network, ABC, is because it is a Canadian-British production, with a primarily non-American cast. And as a primary character and figuring in the trailer, Terry Chen stood out for me.

The series is set in 2006 in Kandahar, Afghanistan and revolves around the life and work of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) at a military hospital. Another medical drama with a twist? I haven’t had one on my PVR since ER ended.

Chen’s character, Captain Bobby Trang, is a general practice doctor and trauma team leader. He is a new recruit and thus not as confident in his abilities and he will be a “gentle soul”.

Terry Chen was born in Edmonton, Alberta, and moved to Vancouver (here!), British Columbia, to pursue acting. He has an impressive resume of appearances in television and movies, many Canadian, but I haven’t seen any of his work before. I would remember him–he’s so rugged looking and has those great lips!
